Christopher Reeve s-a nascut pe 25 septembrie 1952 in New York. Inalt, brunet si frumos a jucat in roluri variate, dar pentru totdeauna si pentru toate generatiile de fani ai „Omului de Otel” va ramane Superman.
Debuteaza cu rol mic in filmul Gray Lady Down (1977). Christopher Reeve nu a devenit o adevarata vedeta pana nu a invins nume mari de actori, cum ar fi Robert Redford, Sylvester Stallone si Clint Eastwood, pentru a deveni expertul in costumul albastru cu capa rosie, in super filmul lui Richard Donner Superman: The Movie din 1978. In 1980 apare si Superman II, in 1983 Superman III si in 1987 Superman IV: The Quest for Peace, pentru care a scris scenariul.
La mijlocul anilor `90, Christopher Reeve era inca ocupat cu filmul, televiziunea si teatrul, cand pe neasteptate totul se naruie: in iunie 1995 cade de pe un cal in timpul unui concurs si ramane complet paralizat.
In anul 2004, dupa o indelungata suferinta, se stinge din viata.
